When you are with a customer, you cannot pick up the phone. That is normal. But each unanswered call, WhatsApp or DM has a price, and most owners never calculate it.
Here is a simple way to find out, using your own numbers instead of someone else's statistics.
Missed enquiries per week × share that would have booked × average job value × 4 = monthly cost
Let's go through each part.
Look at your phone's missed-call list and your unread or late-answered messages on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and email. Count a typical week. If you are not sure, count for just one week and write it down.
Not every enquiry becomes a customer. Think about the ones you do answer: out of ten enquiries, how many book? That is your conversion rate. Use a cautious number. Someone who calls and gets no answer is less likely to wait, so even a modest estimate is fair.
What does an average booking bring in? Use revenue per job, or for repeat customers consider what they spend over a year.
That gives a rough monthly figure.
Say you miss 10 enquiries a week, 3 in 10 would normally book, and an average job is worth 120. That is 10 × 0.3 × 120 × 4 = 1,440 a month in revenue walking to competitors. Your numbers will differ, which is the point: calculate yours.
Catchliner covers steps two to four together: it answers across phone, chat, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger, books appointments and follows up automatically.
Do the calculation for your own business. If the number surprises you, start with the cheapest fix and measure again after a month. And for a quick look at how your website handles customers, drop your website or social media and see what the AI learns about your business.
